Today is Sophie's third birthday and she was very excited to get a big girl's bike. It's amazing how fast the last three years have gone and how fast our little girl is growing up! Tonight we also see in a new year, so Happy New Year to all our readers and we hope 2012 is a happy, healthy year for you all!

Cradlesong wishes all our readers a very Merry Christmas! We are having a fun time at home. It's Ella's first Christmas and Sophie really understands and is excited about all the celebrations for the first time. A happy time is being had by all in our house.

Cradlesong Blog: Why Oh Why Oh Why?!
|
Well we have certainly reached the 'why' stage with Sophie. For some time now she's had an avid curiosity, asking the question "why?" frequently, but in the last month everything has been "why?". I have answered each of her questions informatively and tried to encourage a healthy thirst for knowledge, however, I was beaten down to a "Just because" response the other day. It seems there is only so much that can be explained.

Cradlesong Blog: Happy Birthday, Nanny
|
Today is Sophie and Ella's Nanny's birthday. Unfortunately, she is no longer with us to celebrate. Sophie remembers and talks about her Nanny, but sadly Ella never had a chance to meet her. I know Nanny would of adored Ella as much as she did all of her grandchildren. Nanny, today we remember you with love and miss you more than ever.

Cradlesong Blog: "I don't want to go to Daycare"
|
Sophie has really settled into daycare. She still complains when we are getting ready and she realises that it's morning that she's going and tells me she doesn't want to go (usually as she's reaching for the door handle to try and leave the house). However, she's fine when we get to daycare and normally just wants a kiss and cuddle goodbye. However, yesterday she just ran to the story area and sat with her friends listening and poor mummy was left without a kiss or a cuddle. Perhaps Sophie is more settled at daycare, than mummy is :-)

Cradlesong Blog: There's an App For That
|
Since Ella was born I've been using the Phillips Avent My Baby & Me App to record her
feeds. It's pretty good, but does have some downfalls. For example, the
timer sometimes malfunctions if the phone goes into power saving or if
you navigate away to different apps during the feed. There are also a
couple of features I'd like to see, like time between feeds and number
of feeds a day. That all said, it's a pretty nifty app which I am still
using. It has other features too, including a nappy tracker, growth
trackers and a photo diary that you can make a cute slide show with.

Cradlesong Blog: Little Sis is Getting Bigger
|
Ella had her 2 month check with the Maternal & Child Health Nurse
this week. She's doing really well, gaining 1.16kg in the last 5 weeks!
She's longer and more alert too. She gave the nurse some nice big smiles
and even a little gurgle. Ella certainly is thriving and before too
long she'll be big enough to play with Sophie which will make big sis
happy.
