I find it hard to believe just how fast my little girl is growing. I mean, the fact that she is now my little girl and no longer my baby speaks volumes. She seems to have a new trick everyday at the moment. Her speech is coming along and I am constantly amazed by her vocabulary. She can say nose, mouth, eyes, ears, toes, chin and BUM which she thinks is hilarious. She can also say and identify words like moon, sky, tree, wall, shoe, pool, man and today she even surprised me by saying choc choc when she saw a chocolate ad in a magazine. She even proceeded to pretend to eat the chocolate - the Easter Bunny has a lot to answer for :o)
Sophie is also turning into a little copy cat. Last night after I put her in her PJs she picked her top and socks, took my hand and led me to laundry basket. It made me smile as it was a little bit like looking in a mirror. She also licks her fingers before turning the pages of books and magazines (thank you Papa), cleans the shower windows, dunks biscuits (thank you Nanny) and serves pretend tea, to name a but a few of her party tricks.
I think the thing I can't get over is, how all of a sudden, she has become such an independent little person. She seems taller, more dexterous and definitely faster on her feet. She does however have a very strong will and is yet to be fully able to communicate all her wishes adequately or understand potential dangers which can be a struggle at times, but on the whole she is an absolute joy.
We went out for a family dinner with Nana & Papa and Nanny & Grandad before leaving Melbourne. We had a lovely time and although it was late for Sophie she was on top form. She discovered there was a kids corner with karaoke which she stood and watched with great interest for some time. Then she finally plucked up the courage to pick up a mic. There wasn't an awful lot of singing, but she was happy to steal the stage. At one point I think she thought the mic was an ice cream and at another it was a bit too tricky to hold the mic and clap her hands and she bumped her self on the head. She still refused to give up the mic though ;) Anyway, take a look...
Sorry Cradlesong has been quiet for a little while, but Sophie's been a very busy little person. She's been in Melbourne for a couple of weeks having plenty of fun with her brothers, Nanny & Grandad and Nana & Papa. They went to see the penguins, chocolate factory and koalas on Phillip Island, the heritage farm on Churchill Island, played on beaches along The Great Ocean Road, took in the views from the top of Eureka Tower and Sophie even had a go at karaoke! A lot of fun has been had by all.
We're back in Sydney now and still having lots of fun with Nanny and Grandad. Yesterday we had a lovely, if slightly chilly, walk in the Blue Mountains and today we took a tour of the Opera House. Sophie attempted to be the main attraction on the tour, testing out the acoustics and making friends with the other people on the tour.
I have a video of two of our adventures that I'll put up as soon as I can.
We went to see Play School live last Thursday and it was so much fun! Sophie just love it. I was a little worried that shed be overwhelmed and just watch and not want to join in as she often does that at her classes. She did start off a little transfixed, but soon got into the swing of things. A couple of her favourite songs were a big help. Anyway, as soon as she worke out she could go round the kids in front and get to the stage she did and then again an again and... Well you get the idea. It was great though to see he so excited and waving to all the little kids around her. It was also amazing to see how excited all the other kids were too and the atmosphere was buzzing. I didn't know jemima was so popular!!
We went to Sydney Wildlife World at Darling Harbour a few days ago. I haven't been there before and I thought is was great. Sophie had a fantastic day too! She loved the bilby, kangaroos and surprisingly, the bull ants which apparently were very funny. If you take a look at the video below you'll see that it's not just the real animals that are fun.
I'd definitely recommend Sydney Wildlife World for a great day out.
It was Father's Day in the UK last Sunday so as my dad is staying with us at the moment we had to have a little celebration. We decided on an easy going picnic on the beach. It was a great afternoon and Sophie had a ball. She loves playing on the sand and below you can see her having a little mad moment :o)
Hope you had a great Father's Day, Dad!
