Cradlesong Blog: Milestone Mania

Development
Sophie is just coming along in leaps and bounds. She no longer takes a bottle, but uses a sippy cup; she is getting better and better at feeding herself with a spoon; she tries so hard to dress and undress herself and she babbles on in a language that is slowly starting to resemble English. The biggest milestone of the week though is that Sophie did her first poo in the toilet. Don't get me wrong I haven't started to toilet train her in earnest, I think she is far too young for that, but I am just trying to get her use to the idea of what a toilet is used for. She is still in nappies, but I am trying to get her to sit on the toilet when I think she is due to deliver a little present and last Tuesday I managed to time it right. We gave her lots and lots of praise which she loved even though I'm not sure that she knew what it was that she'd done.

As for dressing, Sophie knows where everything goes and tries to put tops her head or her socks on my feet :o) When I'm dressing her she knows to lift her feet and put her arms into sleeves, but hasn't quite mastered putting anything other than a hat on by herself. She's getting pretty good at undressing herself though and came up to me and handed over her pyjama top the other night, just before bedtime!

I know I keep saying it, but it really is amazing watching Sophie grow and learn!
