Cradlesong Blog: Flying Through the Treetops

Last week we took a day trip out to Illawara Fly, which is rainforest walk that includes a 500m long, 25m high elevated treetop walk, with two swaying springboard cantilevered sections and a 45m high lookout tower and . The walk ascends at a gentle grade and isn't taxing, with the exception of the spiral staircase to the top of the lookout tower and even that isn't too bad. The walkway is a metal structure with high sides so is safe for children, although I have to say I wasn't too keen on Sophie grabbing the top of the rail to look over when we were holding her. The cantilevered sections were impressive and gave great views over the rainforest and the view from the lookout tower to the coast was fantastic. Nanny was a bit nervous as she doesn't like heights and this was compounded by the fact that you could through the base of the walkway to the forest below. She was very brave though and we were very proud of her. Sophie had a great time and running around and it was a good day out for all.
